Boulder Bay Eco Resort - Mergui Archipelago Island Stay
What you get at Boulder Bay Eco Resort
Boulder island on the western side of the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar is home to the “Boulder Bay Eco Resort”.
With Bungalows built entirely from renewable sources the resort can hardly be seen from the water. Overall a lot of attention has been paid to building with as little impact as possible, cutting trees only where absolutely needed and leaving the island in its natural state.
The island staff (and interested guests) are conducting each cleanups every week to free the island from plastics and other garbage drifting into the many scenic bays around Boulder.
This makes sense, since part of the resorts policy is to cut the use of plastics to a minimum, already during the transfer to the island guests are handed multi use water bottles that can be refilled throughout the stay, creating no extra waste through one way plastics.
As part of the protection plan for the reef permanent moorings have been set up in December 2016, to have a safe place for the resorts own boats, but also to provide a securing point for the fishermen who seek shelter for the night, enabling them to stay safe while not having to drop an anchor, which causes damage to the reef every time.
Furthermore biodegradable soaps and detergents are used throughout the stay on the island (and the transfer via boat) making sure no chemicals are released into the open water.
So enjoy a stay on a remote island with the comfort of your own four biodegradable walls and leave no trace behind other than the footprints on the beach.
