DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1: Meeting / Immigration and Cruise to South Twin - 0 Dive (-/-/D)
Meeting time in our Dive Shop in Ranong at 12.00 (12:00 PM) where we will have time to try equipment before we go to our boat. Before departure comes the Thai emigration on board and will stamp us out of Thailand. Then the boat will take us to Kawthaung where we will get our visa for Myanmar (Islands only). In the afternoon we will depart to our first dive site Southern Twin. Dinner under the stars...
Please note: For the customers to join us in Kawthaung we meet 14:30 (2:30 PM) at Myo Ma Jetty. We will bring your gear and some spares for testing.
Accommodation: Private or Shared Cabin with fan
Meals: Dinner
DAY 2: Southern and Northern Twin - 4 Dives (B/L/D)
4 dives around South Twin and North Twin Islands and visiting the famous dome of North Twin Pinnacle
First dive is an easy test dive around South Twin and we look at the conditions of the day to see where will be the best option for dive number 2, 3 and for number 4. Our first night dive will be in a nice comfortably sheltered spot. There are numerous dive sites around both South Twin and North Twin so plenty of really good places to choose from.
South Twin and North Twin offer as well as many different dive sites a great diversity in marine life to go along. We always keep one eye out in the blue. Manta Rays and Whale Sharks have been known to frequent these dive sites from time to time.
In the afternoon, there could be some time to get out of our scuba gear and explore a deserted tropical beach in one of the many pristine bays on North Twin or South Twin. Depths between 5 and 40+m and usually stunningly 20-40m visibility. Currents mild to strong.
Accommodation: Private or Shared Cabin with fan
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 3: Black Rock - 4 Dives (B/L/D)
Well arrived at Black Rock, the only land you see is the rock itself. Now we are really remote in Mergui Archipelago, far north and far to the west. So far only scuba divers and the passing fishing boats go here.
Black Rock is worth all 4 dive of the day. When Giant Mantas Rays are visiting you hang out in the blue and enjoy the show. The rock from the surface looks like some melted lava formation with smooth flat surfaces and sharp edges. Not a rock that looks inviting but when you go scuba diving it is a whole different and inviting world that meets you.
The night dive is done on the sloping north side or we have been known to sneak a sunset dive in here instead if so desired. Sunset feeding frenzy can be quite spectacular at Black Rock.
Depths between 5 and 40+m and usually stunningly 25-40m visibility. Currents mild to strong.
Accommodation: Private or Shared Cabin with AC
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 4: Around Shark Cave - 4 Dives (B/L/D)
Three amazing dive sites here: Shark Cave, Square Rock and Submarine. All nice dive sites and so close to each other we dive one group, one dive site and spread out across the 3 dive sites. Your group will be diving all alone on these dive sites most of the time.
Shark Cave has outlived its name. There are rarely Sharks in the cave like there was before but the cave is still a nice thrill.
Right above the Shark Cave a canyon runs through Shark Cave Island so there are two ways to swim through the island and end up the same place like 2 submerged shortcuts.
Submarine does from the right angle with a touch of imagination and a pinch of Thai whiskey – or both – look like Nautilus from 20000 Leagues under the Sea. The dive site is like on a submarine considerably larger underneath than the small rock breaking the surface.
Square rock is the smaller of the dive sites if you do not count the 2 hidden pinnacles we sometimes visit. Even this smaller of the dive sites can never been seen in one dive. You can visit the coral garden or hang on the walls of the main rock or you can go visit the secret pinnacles all in just one of the 3 dive sites.
Shark or no Shark – the dive sites around Shark Cave are always nice to visit.
Depths between 5 and 40+m and usually around 15-25m visibility. Currents mild to strong.
Accommodation: Private or Shared Cabin with fan
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 5: Around Macleod Island - 4 Dives (B/L/D)
Dive sites around both Ba Wei and Pink Canyon are limestone formations like most of The Mergui Archipelago. Especially around Ba Wei we have some amazing underwater passages we visit whenever currents and waves allow. And if you do not fancy going in the passages we always option to stay out in “the open”.
We can from Ba Wei reach some 6 different dive sites like Spanish Garden, Dragon Island, Tower Rock and more, so we have a lot of choices here and we might come up with a surprise dive site on this day.
Pink Canyon is a relatively new dive site to us but it has been pleasantly nice to dive, so we decided you should have the opportunity as well. There are more interesting spots to explore around here so you might be lucky that we have found new amazing dive sites around when you arrive with MV Thai Sea.
With the number of dive sites around Ba Wei and possibilities around Pink Canyon we will for sure not run out of dive sites on this day of the safari. Depths between 5 and 40+m and usually around 10-30m visibility. Currents mild to strong.
Accommodation: Private or Shared Cabin with AC
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 6: Sea Fan Forrest Pinnacle and Western Rocky - 4 Dives (B/L/D)
Sea Fan Forest is an enormous submerged granite boulder. Western Rocky is limestone rock on both the main Island and the surrounding rocks and pinnacles. Both of them some of the “original” very famous dive sites in The Mergui Archipelago and a must to visit while scuba diving in Burma.
Sea Fan Forest is submerged, but only by 5 m at low tide. A fairly large area on the top is suitable for safety stops looking at the marine life in the surge. From there the dive site slopes down to 18 – 25m before you reach the sloping sandy bottom. In places we find vertical walls and in other places, slopes and ledges cover the sides of Sea Fan Forest. In the sand around Sea Fan Forrest we find several rock formations creating smaller pinnacles ready for you to explore.
Western Rocky consists of several dive sites and we will show you the best of it on this safari. Western Rocky itself got a tunnel through the limestone rock from one side to the other. A huge tunnel with amazing views inside. So big you can swim several divers together and you can always see both ends when inside. Visibility is always clear and never any current inside the tunnel. An amazing experience to be inside in the dark, looking out at the bright blue exits that appear so amazingly clear and bright seen from the darkness inside. If you have not tried before this is the spot to do so.
We have as well Eagle Rock, The Islets and a Secret Pinnacle to dive around Western Rocky so we have lots to show you here and night dives here are an amazing explosion of colors and always a treat.
Depths between 5 and 40+m and usually around 15-45m visibility. Currents mild to strong.
Accommodation: Private or Shared Cabin with AC
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 7: Volcano – Honor Rock - 1 Dive (B/L/-)
Only one dive on this last day but for sure this day will not be boring. We dive Volcano Island and do a bit more than scuba diving this morning. Volcano Island (a.k.a. Cocks Comb Island or Emerald Heart Island and more) is one of the most famous Islands in The Mergui Archipelago. A big lagoon inside the Island is the source of the popularity and some of the namings. At the right angle from a drone it is a heart shaped lagoon and the deep center looks like an emerald colored blue hole. We start the dive be going in to have a look before the daily invasion of day trip visitors.
A little bit of life and diving is possible inside, but the dive site is a nice relaxing wall dive to finish our safari off with, on the outside of the island. The wall is limestone rock so full of smaller and larger cracks. Some large enough to swim in but they have fine muddy sand on the bottom so we stay and enjoy from the outside.
The wall continues quite far but after a while the marine life slowly disappears and it is time the last safety stop of this safari.
Depths between 0 and 30+m and usually around 10-20m visibility. Currents non to mild.
After the last dive we will go back to Kawthaung where there will be opportunity for some souvenir shopping and a fresh local beer. Say good bye to the divers, who are returning to Yangon. Once we got our passports back by the Burmese authorities, we will head back to Thailand where we get a new stamp – Immigration Clearance will be around 5 PM.
Accommodation: none
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Please note: This trip is designed not to dive to the max rather also to enjoy the surroundings. Dive sites are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions. But remember we are divers and on the boat ourselves – we will for sure give you the best options of the day in any condition. We are divers working for divers and love diving – for sure we pick only the best.
Note: This tour can be combine with others.
